Fee and Insurance Q & A
Relational Therapy Indy LLC is a private pay psychotherapy practice. Fees are paid in full at the time of service. Payment is conveniently made by way of your credit card.
As a healthcare provider, I also accept Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA).
The fee schedule is as follows:
- Assessment Session: $180
- Standard Session (50 minutes): $150
- Extended Session (90 minutes): $225
As an independent psychotherapy practice, I no longer have In-Network contracts with insurance companies.
Of course, it is understandable that many clients would like to be able to use their insurance benefits to offset the cost of their mental health care services.
Depending on your insurance carrier, you may be eligible to receive Out-of-Network (OON) reimbursement that will help. You can verify your coverage by calling the customer service number on the back of your insurance card.
After you have paid the session fee in full, the practice software will issue a form called a Superbill that you can fetch from the patient portal. That form contains all the information needed by your insurance carrier. If you have OON coverage, your insurance company will reimburse you for the portion of the session fee that they cover (this is often a percentage of the session fee). Reimbursement will be sent directly to you.
Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers and health care facilities are now required to provide an estimate of the costs for medical items and services to patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using their insurance benefits.
The spirit of the law is to protect clients from surprise billing by providing transparency in pricing. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services, including psychotherapy.
Your health care provider will deliver a GFE in writing as soon as possible prior to your initial session. You can also request a GFE before scheduling a session.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate (a copy will be stored in the client portal for you as well).
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, go to www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.
